Recently , our General Manager, Danny Fisher, was interviewed by Tom Cullen of the Richmond Times Dispatch. This interview took place shortly after our move into our newly remodeled facility at 8903 West Broad Street.  Below is the article related to that interview, which was published in the Richmond Times Dispatch on June 15, 2012. Danny  realizes that environment is an integral part of success. At a dealership, the staff is essential. The workspace and team chemistry make for the other half of a thriving enterprise. Now, Fisher and the staff at West Broad Hyundai have moved to a bright new space, and the attitude around the office is perfect for car buying.

Danny Fisher is a local guy; he graduated from Meadowbrook High School. He got into the car business about 20 years ago as a salesman and made it into management because his boss at Chesterfield Dodge took a chance and promoted him to finance & insurance manager. On March 2, he became the general manager at West Broad Hyundai after working his way through the ranks. On May 2, West Broad Hyundai opened its new store at 8903 W. Broad Street (it moved from a less-roomy location on the famous strip of dealerships).

"We had run out of room at the old location," Fisher said. Now, he has space for all of the exciting cars that Hyundai is bringing to the market.

"We can carry all the new car inventory we get from Hyundai," Fisher said. And there's plenty to be amped about when it comes to new Hyundais. There's the Sonata, a family-sized sedan that looks sleek and modern. The Santa Fe is a rugged, smaller SUV that could support a weekend mountain-biking trip or a cruise along a coastal highway. And there's the small but powerful Elantra that can get up to 40 miles per gallon on the highway.

"Right now, everything that Hyundai is building is a home run," Fisher said. Fisher mentions the price points and styling of the Hyundai vehicles as elements that attract buyers of all demographics. The 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty doesn't hurt either. The Elantra, specifically, seems to be attracting a lot of attention.

"The young folks love it, and the older folks love it," Fisher said. "It's not geared to a specific generation."

The new store is equally welcoming. It is well-lit and breezy with its glass facade and sleek furniture. Customers can watch a huge flat-screen TV while they wait for service or sales.

And while customers are waiting, the staff at West Broad Hyundai is working to deliver satisfaction.

Fisher strives to foster a collegial environment at the dealership so that employees are happy and can pass that elation on to customers.

"We like everybody to get introduced to the customer," Fisher said. "Make them feel at home."

He realizes that buying a car can be stressful (by noting that, aside from a house, a vehicle is the most significant purchase many families make), but he wants it to be the opposite.

"I like to see [customers] walk in and relax and enjoy themselves," Fisher said. "I want them to have fun."

And the key to getting customers to have fun is to get the right employees and the right products. The products are set with Hyundai providing truckloads of thrilling vehicles. Fisher is confident that the right people are in place, too.

"You have to have good people," he said. "And I've got it."

With the new store, enthused management and a talented staff, West Broad Hyundai has the perfect recipe for a hard-charging, customer-pleasing good time.
