In case you missed it, the
New Year’s Eve ball will not be raised this year atop the Byrd Theatre in
Carytown due to safety reasons. If you
haven’t already made plans, Richmond.com provides some great New Year’s Eve
events locally:
Tuesday, Dec. 31
Spend New Year’s Eve at Lewis Ginter with family activities and music from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a live concert by the Ululating Mummies, photo opportunities with the Garden Keeper and Butterfly Fairy (bring your own camera), make your own New Year’s Eve hat, and “roll in the new year” with a roll down the hill to the Rose Garden. Aside from the hill roll, all of the activities are held inside the Education and Library Complex. Stick around for GardenFest of Lights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. $7-$11.
New Year’s Eve at Uptown Alley
Tuesday, Dec. 31
Ring in the New Year at Midlothian’s swankiest bowling alley. They’re throwing a Noon Year’s Eve party for the whole family that’s $7 for 2 games of bowling, face painting, party favors, giveaways and more. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Noon Year’s Eve at the Science Museum
Tuesday, Dec. 31
Make your New Year’s Eve fun and educational with the Noon Year’s Eve party at the Science Museum. There will be a countdown to noon, a drop of 2014 brightly colored bouncy balls and cooking in the Boost! Kitchen. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. $10-$11.

Ring in the New Year with a party at CMoR Central with games and activities, a parade with Seymour, a juice toast at noon, and a raffle drawing for a new car. CMoR Short Pump and CMoR Chesterfield will also have special games and activities including a character parade and a juice toast at noon.10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All CMoR locations will be closing early at 2 p.m. $8, free for members.

RVA on Ice will be open New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, cartoonist Stanley Rayfield and balloon artist Uncle Curt will be on hand, doing cartoons and creating balloon art for kids from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. RVA on Ice will be open New Year's Eve from noon to 7 p.m. and New Year’s Day from noon to 10 p.m. General admission $5, kids 10 and under free with adult, skate rental $5 adults, $3 for kids 10 and under.

Check out the fancy footwork and moves of The Harlem Globetrotters on their “Fans Rule” Tour at the Richmond Coliseum. Fun for the whole family. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets $25-$105.
New Year’s Eve at Romp n’ Roll
Tuesday, Dec. 31
Enjoy a special Ho Ho Ho-pen Gym at the West End and Midlothian locations with a countdown toast at noon. . Just before noon, children and parents will count down to a very special toast. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. $7 per child.

Pump It Up will host a special New Year’s Eve jump at both locations with top hats, tiaras and a sparkling cider toast. 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
