The 2015 Genesis is “made to go head-to-head with the world’s most respected luxury sedans,” Mike O’Brien, vice president of product and corporate planning for Hyundai Motor America, said at the news conference.

The new Genesis is a trove of trick technology, including its selectable all-wheel-drive system and the “sensory surround safety” radar and camera-activated automatic braking system. All-wheel drive has three modes: normal, which engages all four wheels more or less equally; sport, which puts 90 percent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels; and economy, which disengages the front wheels from the driveline to reduce rolling resistance.

Mr. Zuchowski said the car would be available in dealerships this spring, although he declined to say how much it would cost.
