The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently tested the new 2015 Hyundai Genesis full-size sedan, and since it performed well in the battery of tests, the agency has named the newly designed sedan an IIHS Top Safety Pick+

Cars earning a Top Safety Pick must receive a “good” rating in the moderate front, side roof strength, and head restraint tests and a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the difficult small overlap front test. In order to earn a Top Safety Pick+, cars must also earn a “basic,” “advanced,” or “superior” rating for front crash protection systems. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis earned a good rating in all five of the tests, including the small overlap test. In the small overlap test, the crash dummy's post-collision position in relation to the door frame, steering wheel, and instrument panel indicated a well-maintained survival space for the driver.. The IIHS also found that the frontal and side curtain airbags worked well together to prevent the head from hitting anything. The 2015 Genesis sedan comes standard with nine airbags.

The 2015 Genesis sedan also features Hyundai’s “Sensory Surround Safety” system of active safety technologies including Land Departure Warning System (LDWS), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with stop-and-start function, Emergency Steering Support that helps avoid a front collision, Blind-Spot Detection system (BSD) that informs driver’s on cars equipped with a Head-Up Display (HUD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Rear Cross-traffic Alert (RCTA).
