Introducing the 2024 Hyundai Sonata at West Broad Hyundai
The Hyundai Sonata is one of the go-to mid-size sedans in the Richmond region. Whether you're new to the Sonata or a long-time driver, there are plenty of reasons to give the 2024 edition a long look. Hyundai gave the Sonata a major refresh for the 2024 model year. The appearance has changed, and there are also new powertrain options. Hyundai eliminated the option for a 1.6-liter engine with a turbocharger. Instead, a 2.5-liter engine is standard across the lineup, and the upgrade option is the 2.5 with a turbo if you go for the N-Line trim. Likewise, all-wheel drive will be optionally available for the first time in the model's history. Hyundai has also simplified the trim structure to just two options.
Technology and Safety
The base option is a 10.3-inch screen, and you may also order a 12.3-inch version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. You get a six-speaker audio system with the base package, but drivers can also order a Bose system with 12 speakers.
Hyundai's SmartSense system offers a bevy of safety technologies. Drivers will have access to lane-keeping and following tech, attention warnings, smart cruise control, and forward collision mitigation. You can also receive rear occupant alerts. The new Sonata employs hill start assistance, and it also has a four-wheel anti-lock braking system. Automatic emergency braking is standard, too.
2024 Hyundai Sonata Trim Levels
Two trims are available: the SEL and N-Line. The SEL is available in FWD and AWD setups with the standard 2.5-liter motor. The N-Line is only available as a FWD with the 2.5-liter turbo.
2024 Hyundai Sonata Performance Details
The 2.5-liter motor produces 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque as you drive around Chesterfield, VA. A front-wheel drivetrain with an eight-speed automatic transmission is the standard setup, but you can also order an AWD Sonata. With the FWD setup, you can expect an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. The Sonata also sports a 15.9-gallon fuel tank, so long trips around Mechanicsville shouldn't require many stops.
The 2.5 with the turbo is significantly more powerful with a 290-horsepower engine that hits 311 pound-feet of torque. Its fuel economy is still excellent at 23 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. Most Midlothian drivers should go from zero to 60 mph in well under six seconds, too.
Design Refresh for 2024
With the 2024 refresh, the Sonata now has the futuristic look that is the company's new normal. A wide and narrow LED light array crosses the entire front just below the hood line. The Sonata still has a sizeable and D-shaped grille, but it's more linear and geometric. Its fog lights appear nested in two banks of three on coves to the sides of the grille. Lots of black accents dominate the design, and there is also a bit of chrome. A huge panoramic sunroof is also an available option that gives it a sharp and hypermodern appearance.
The transformational refresh continues with the interior. Bucket-style seats are the norm, and sport-styled seating is optional for the N-Line trim. Silver accents and straight lines dominate the car's interior. A digital instrument cluster is standard and pairs with a large touchscreen infotainment display in the center of the dashboard. The Sonata will comfortably seat five occupants, thanks to more than 120 cubic feet of interior space. You have the choice of cloth, premium cloth, or leather for the seating materials.
